Unidentified Flying Stinker
This guy flew onto one of Pale Male’s favorite trees in The Great Lawn (where he went to bed a few weeks ago). I immediately assumed it to be the Grand Stinker until Lee told me he has no red tail. Now which insolent little imp of a hawk will dare perch on Pale Male’s favorite armchair? I noticed that his cheeks are very light colored. Also when he left this perch he flew directly over to the MSB Pond.

Female Mallard
Imagine this creature to be a 35 year old woman due to be the mother of children in just a few months; will you remain quiet if your kids threw sticks at her or allow your dog to chase her?

Male Mallard
Imagine this creature to be a 40 year old man trying to protect and feed his wife above; will you be amused if your husband chased him with a motorized machine?

Once in a while a small amount of justice is delivered at The Model Sailboat Pond.

Robin
From what I gathered this evening, robins have a very low opinion of screech owls.

Pale Male
Didn't seem too bothered by the heavy rain--but he must be--sunshine is his thing I think. Yesterday he sat in this dripping tree and changed branches fairly often. At this point (above) he gently glided through the thick limbs and headed off toward Cleopatra's Needle.

Off to Cleo's Needle
Walking through the pouring rain is a nourishing experience. Almost at the top of Cedar Hill I saw a large red leaf cart-wheeling across the lawn. As wet as the grass was it did not hold back this happy leaf. Even with all the animals tucked into their sheltered nooks and crannies, the splashing raindrops on the leaves, and the restless ripples in the puddles keeps the park alive and happy when it rains.

Ducks
The pond is just a few inches from overflowing. Here the ducks head back to safe haven after venturing out to forage in the muddy grass near Pilgrim Hill.

Pale Male
Found Pale Male in his Turtle Pond tree this evening in the rain. It was so nice to see him. This was photographed with a 100mm lens.
