Lola bracing against the snow and wind from her perch on 965 Fifth Avenue.

It took six layers of clothing for me to feel comfortable enough to stand the cold, but she hardly complained with nothing added to her summer garb.

One of two hawks flying south at 79th Street & Riverside Drive.

They now appear to be two young hawks.

Riverside Park nest still intact.

A visitor from Albuquerque, NM.

Lola perched here all through the afternoon and into the evening.

When I stood next to the playground and glanced around and above for something beautiful to photograph, my eyes fell upon this drab bush. I felt some guilt for always looking for something grand and bright and full of color and hardly ever looking at someone like this beautiful creature--full of life and with an admirable passion for surviving. So I declared to him right then and there that I had found something beautiful to photograph.
