I patrolled through the park looking for our favorite animals today but they were not around for me to see. The ducklings are doing very well and even practicing their flapping right now. Their ‘fledging’ will hopefully take them to The Lake soon.
I stood at the foot of these stairs and waited to see if a raccoon would pass by, but none showed up. I thought maybe I'd see someone familiar across the way or a wise person seating themselves on a nearby bench or descending the short flight of stairs and perhaps they wouldn’t mind imparting some morsel of knowledge for me to digest on my way home. But no such person presented themselves so I caught a cool breeze on my face which eased the stickiness in the air and headed for home.

On my way home, walking on the uneven cobble stones on the sidewalk down Fifth Avenue, I recalled some of the images I captured earlier in the day. I thought of wearing blinkers myself to only see the pretty pictures...

But I cannot find a pair (blinkers) that can fit me properly.

I am reluctant to believe that birds predate man’s existence on earth. It seem more credible that they came after us, because their wings must have evolved only...

to flee from our wicked grasp.

Please research any organization claiming to be concerned with the welfare of animals, before making donations etc.
I myself know of a few very popular ones that I want to have nothing to do with.

Maggie jumps and the air makes way!

Monday August 29, 05: Charlie (for the first time observed by us) flew up high and soared. He was accompanied by an adult for a while but I couldn't say for sure which.

Saw this mallard Mom at The Pond (the real pond at 59th Street) with only two ducklings. Maybe the rest are hidden but I have no idea how many she started out with - Saturday August 27, 05

Only a few years ago, the only bird I could identify was "By Jove, it's a Yellow-Bellied Sapsucker!" I called every flying animal by that neme - (?) photographed Saturday August 27, 05

All those years of watching The Honeymooners I believed 'Yellow-Bellied Sapsucker' was a made up name - (?) photographed Saturday August 27, 05

The light is bouncing off the top of Azalea Pond onto this little sparrow - Saturday August 27, 05
